Fish Taco Dinner Fiasco

Sunday, April 10, 2011

Okay, so I made an impulsive buy the other day that led me to make fish tacos. When you think of fish taco's you think flaky succulent fish, right? It might be breaded or grilled, but either way it is prepared it's delicious. Well stupidly I went to the grocery store hungry and what did I end up buying? Gorton's Crunchy Breaded Fish Sticks. Fish Sticks. Really Paige? Fish sticks? To my defense they are pretty cute fish sticks, if such a thing exists. Did any of you see that commercial a while back with the super cute little girl schooling you on what a fish stick should be? Well if you haven’t, here it is. She was right. There is no such thing as a minced fish. I hate to dislike something, but these fish sticks do not make a good fish taco. Maybe if you are 4 and are trying fish tacos for the first time, but for an adult, these just don't cut it. Luckily I made the tortillas and had delicious fresh veggies to go along inside the taco, so all was not lost. I know, I'm an adult, I should have known better. I should have gotten the tilapia fish fillets. Duh. Lesson learned. So the next time you have a hankering for fish taco's, go the extra step and prepare the fish yourself. Also I won't be going to the grocery store hungry again... mistake! That being said, I will go and buy the tilapia fish fillets and try them, you know, just in case I have another lazy dinner night ahead...

Still made for a pretty picture, even if it was gross. What's that sauce on top?

Hi Rachel! Thanks for the sweet comment! The sauce on top is a southwest chipotle ranch dressing from the Hidden Valley company, cause they know how to make a mean ranch dressing. Don't you think? Thanks for stopping by!

I found your blog through SITS and am glad I did. What a cute post! I also make mistakes in the kitchen, and I'm not afraid to blog about it. And I'm with you...going to the market when you're hungry isn't the best plan ever :)
